Create a Mobile Ecommerce Store

I got a question from a client this morning concerning mobile ecommerce store technology.  Honestly speaking, it’s not something I’ve even looked at — not a smart move when you’re an ecommerce advisor ;-(

Needless to say (as you can tell by this post), I began my research on mobile ecommerce and it’s benefit to anyone selling products online.

2010 is primed to be an exciting year for mobile technology, with a flood of smartphones, laptops, netbooks, and tablets slated for stores.

Mobile Smart Phone Technology is the ‘new’ talk in cyberspace.  Business owners like the idea that people are choosing to shop via their ‘Mobile smart phones’ too!

Let’s talk about what Mobile Smart Phones are…

Mobile smart phones are not a single brand belonging to any one company, but rather the term refers to phones that have capabilities exceeding those of an ordinary cell phone. They have features that include processors that are more powerful than standard cell phones, including more memory.

What is a smart phone? It’s a cross between a cell phone and a miniature computer. It allows you access to the Internet, instantly putting you in touch with the World Wide Web even while you’re on the go.  These phones usually employ the use of a touch screen and the built in computer chips are the reason why they’re so ‘smart’.

The Benefits Mobile Technology

So what does this mean for you, the business owner?  Having a ‘Smart Phone’ allows you to:

  1. When you’re out of the office, you still want a way to keep up with your clients’ needs. But you can’t do that if they can’t reach you and you can’t reach them.
  2. Mobile computing can improve the service you offer your customers. You can use your laptop computer to give a presentation. You could transfer PDFs of your product literature to your client’s computer, or you could connect remotely to your diary to arrange a follow-up appointment.  PLUS: you can enable customers to pay for services or goods via their smart phone.

I ecourage you to check out your options for leveraging off of this smart technology.  While the U.S. is behind other countries where shopping via cells phones are concerned, it’s a good idea to do your own due diligence and get positioned with current technology.

Are You Hosting Virtual Events?

I looked up the definition of “virtual” in terms of what you and I know as “Internet Land,” i.e., ‘cyberspace.’

Virtual in cyberspace means:

  1. “Created, simulated, or carried on by means of a computer or computer network.”
  2. “Not real. Something which is virtual has no physical basis itself but mimics a physical object in conceptual terms. For instance, on the Web you’ll find graphical representations of buildings which you can‘walk through’ using your mouse (or mp3 player, or telephone.)”
  3. “In the context of computing, not concrete or physical. For instance, a completely virtual university does not have actual buildings but instead holds classes over the Internet.”

I mean really, who has time to physically attend three classes (seminars) per day? Virtually you can and so can your potential targeted audience! Read more
